Vanuatu is an island country in Melanesia, in the South Pacific, that consists of an archipelago of relatively small islands. Some of the islands are madreporic in origin, while others are volcanic. Predominantly mountainous, the territory’s highest elevation is Mount Tabwemasana (1879 m), on the island of Espiritu Santo.
The northern islands have a tropical climate, while the southern islands are subtropical, with heavy rainfall from December to May. This is also the season with the highest temperatures, with averages between 21°C and 32°C. The dry season between June and November is cooler, with averages of 16°C to 20°C.
